Paul Klee: Students were introduced to Paul Klee and his unique style of art making. They learned about how to make self portraits using a blind contour and practiced first by looking at someone in the Google Meet and drawing them without removing their pen from the paper. Then they recreated the drawing two other times with different mediums to explore which one is their favorite. After class they worked on making a blind contour self portrait where they drew themselves without looking in a mirror or lifting their drawing tool off the paper.

Yearbook Covers: The second lesson was based around the yearbook design contest. Students were given a theme of the road to success, and were tasked with creating a yearbook cover that would be voted on by the united arts teaching staff. This was a contest reserved only for fifth grade while fourth grade worked on the mask contest.

Implied and Actual Texture: The third lesson was about texture and how to represent it in art where a viewer would be able to comprehend what it would feel like to touch the real life inspiration for the piece. Students were tasked with picking their favorite animal and then using whatever medium of their choosing to create a brand new texture for it that someone would not expect to find if they pet the creature.

Zentangles and Snowflakes: The final project I taught to fifth grade centered around repeating patterns and Zentangles. Students were introduced to Zentangles and practiced making them in class. They were tasked with creating a snowflake with at least four different patterns for the winter unit and adding a background to their design.
